HISTORIC HUMVEE AUCTIONED TO HELP FEED VETERANS

ALBANY – The next time you’re at an event at the Times Union Center, don’t just walk by that giant car parked in the atrium. Instead, take a second look.

The 1991 military High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle Humvee is on display until mid-September. It will be auctioned at the second annual Saratoga Automobile Museum to benefit the Feed Our Vets charitable not-for-profit organization. The event is Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22.

Steve Hale of the History Channel’s “American Restoration” did the refurbishing. It was donated by the U.S. Air Force. It is now sparkling green and black with crushed glass in the mixture to provide extra sparkle. It has 13 stars painted on the hood and the bumper sports the words “Feed Our Vets.”

The founder of “Feed Our Vets” got the idea after seeing a story about a restored H1 Hummer used in the Iraq war auctioned at $1.35 million for charity.

Even if you don’t want to buy it, the message might be enough to help some veterans.
